Non-English Net Users Growing Fast

A recent study by Global Reach suggests that non-English
speaking people are joining the online world faster than
English speakers. Since 1995, non-English speaking users
have grown from 10% (4-5 million out of 40 million) to
nearly 50% in 1999 (80-81 million out of 180-182
million). The Global Reach survey also notes that
approximately 100 million of the Internet's 180 million
subscribers still speak English, but Spanish and Japanese
speakers now each account for 14.2 million users.
