Charter Approved by DCP on 3 December 2010
The ICANN Board DCP-WG has been established to provide input to the ICANN Board on the consumer protection issues associated with the collection and use of domain name-related data by Registries, Registrars and Resellers, and the consumer protections necessary to establish and maintain consumer trust in the Registry / Registrar model of the gTLD domain name industry.
The WG’s work should include
Fact Finding: Establishing what consumer protections associated with the collection and use of domain-name related data are currently planned to be included in the proposed new gTLD Registry contract, and
Fact Finding: Reviewing the status of work on determining the domain-name related data collected and the uses to which it is put,
and advising the ICANN Board on the next steps.
