Dear ccTLD Registry Operator:

ICANN depends on the financial support of its constituents to fund its operations. The accompanying letter explains why ICANN’s work is important to the global Internet community and why ICANN is seeking your voluntary support. I do hope you will be able to meet our request.

As described in the accompanying letter, based on a methodology developed in consultation with the Budget Group whose members are appointed from among all registries – we are suggesting that your fair share contribution is $___________. [1] The methodology for arriving at this suggested figure for your 2000-2001 contribution is the same as described in Appendix A to ICANN’s proposed 2001-2002 budget, which can be found at http://www.icann.org/financials/proposed-budget-14may01.htm.

Although in the absence of any agreement with you there is no legal obligation for you to provide any funding, I and the ICANN Board of Directors do hope you can provide us with at least the above suggested contribution so that we can render effective services to you and your fellow ccTLD registries and fulfill our responsibilities to the global Internet community. We recognize, however, that your particular circumstances may not allow you to do so and thank you for whatever support you feel ready to give.

I would appreciate it if you could print and return by fax (+1-310-823-8649) the statement of intention to contribute that can be found at http://www.icann.org/financials/pledge.htm. In some parts of the world this statement of intent is known as a “pledge card”. Upon receipt of this pledge card, we will send you an invoice for the amount you intend to contribute. Of course, you may mail your check directly to ICANN at the above address. Either way, we would appreciate a response to arrive before June 30, 2001 so that we may include the amount in our year-end financial statement.

I have been informed that there are some among you who would prefer to pay according to a specified invoice rather than make a contribution. This is for administrative reasons. For those of you in this position, an alternative form on which to state your intention to pay can be found at http://www.icann.org/financials/pledge.htm. Please let us know what is best for you and we will work with you accordingly.

Thank you for your generous support. We appreciate it.

With regards,

M. Stuart Lynn

President and CEO
