Public Discussion on Domain Name Hijacking

In January panix.com was hijacked. ICANN cited poor practices by the gaining registrar and its reseller. The Security and Stability Advisory Committee is examining the overall system issues and is presenting preliminary thoughts and recommendations for discussion. In brief, the overall system has weaknesses at several points, and there a number of things that can be done to strengthen the protection and improve the response time when problems do arise.
