ICANN Montevideo Meeting Topic: New TLD Process Planning

Posted: 27 August 2001

New TLD Process Planning

At its meeting in Stockholm on 4 June 2001, the ICANN Board passed a resolution calling for the creation of a task force to recommend a plan for monitoring the introduction of new TLDs and for evaluating their performance and their impact on the performance of the DNS, along with a schedule on which a plan should be executed. The task force, known as the "New TLD Evaluation Process Planning Task Force," was formed in mid-August. More information about the task force appears on its web page.

The topic of new TLD process planning is on the agenda for the 9 September 2001 ICANN Public Forum to be held in Montevideo. The task force will give a progress report for discussion at the Public Forum.
