This will be a panel discussion, including a question and answer session, with the intent of identifying next steps needed to help ensure the success of the URS.
Session Leader: Kurt Pritz | Senior Vice President, Stakeholder Relations
The Uniform Rapid Suspension system (URS) is intended to provide rapid relief to trademark holders for the most clear-cut cases of infringement; it is intended to complement the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP). As work on implementation of the URS continues, concern has emerged that the cost of the procedure as written will exceed targets.
A cross-community panel will gather to discuss the following aspects of the URS: (i) the clear goals of the URS; (ii) whether the URS, as developed through community discussion and compromise, can satisfy the stated goals of the process; (iii) if the URS as currently envisioned cannot satisfy the goals, what changes must be made to ensure that URS goals are satisfied; and (iv) how the community can work together to revise the URS, as needed to satisfy the stated goals.
Who Should Attend? | Those interested in discussing the implementation details of the Uniform Rapid Suspension system, and how those details can be adapted to help satisfy the goals of the URS.
