Joined firm at inception and led business development efforts including establishing strategic partnerships and corporate investments.
  • Responsible for overall business development strategies, relationships and execution.
  • Developed channel program, which lead to establishment of agreements with national nonprofit associations, including the American Heart Association, National Easter Seals, and National Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Developed sponsorship/marketing relationship with Infinity (Viacom) resulting in $5MM equity investment.


INTERVU
San Diego, CA
1996-2000


Vice President of Business Development
Joined firm at inception and led business development efforts including raising early capital to strategic partnerships and corporate investments. Firm grew from start up to become a $2.8B public company acquired recently by Akamai Technologies.

  • Hired, developed and led INTERVU's overall business development team efforts. Led to INTERVU becoming the lead Internet streaming media company for the distribution of Internet audio and video.
  • Developed and managed overall relationship with Microsoft resulting in $30MM equity investment, over $1.5MM in direct revenues and many millions in co-promotion, co-marketing and referrals. Resulted in over 70 direct leading edge customers.
    Conceived and managed overall relationship with CNN/Turner resulting in $20MM equity investment, exclusive 3-year services agreement, and on-going joint promotion and advertising campaigns. Estimated revenue projections are as high as $5MM.
  • Developed and managed overall relationship with leading ISPs and broadband last mile companies including AT&T, Covad, Frontier Global Center, MCI, USWest, Qwest, Excite@Home, RoadRunner, NTT, and Teleglobe.
  • Created and managed INTERVU Broadband FastForward and JumpStart program, generating over 27 new broadband content customers in the first 8 weeks.
  • Initiated business relationships with AOL/Movie Fone, BMG, CNN, Excite@Home, Intertainer, Major League Baseball and Yahoo. Generated over $1 MM in revenue within the first six months with multi millions projected over next 3 years.
  • •Originated and managed value-add platform strategy and execution which targeted vertical application technologies and providers in which to invest, partner and/or acquire including conference casting, PPV/e-commerce, digital rights management, content syndication, security, ad insertion, playlist management, and encoding.
    Developed business partnership with Muze (MUZAK) to target over 85 of their web based music data customers with a jointly developed music sampling service. Revenue projections of $3MM+ in year one with a 50% annual growth rate.

Business Development And Product Management
One of three original founding members within the company to develop a formal business plan, which led to the development of new division. Focused on products and services that would target high-speed data over coaxial cable, ultimately resulting in newly created Cable Modem Initiative.
  • Led overall business development and product management activities for the newly created Cable Modem Division taking the group to 80 employees just prior to my departure.
  • Led development of state-of-the-art Internet content workshops designed specifically to rapidly develop relationships with application and content providers in developing solutions for the cable modem technologies.
  • Worked with leading Cable MSO's (TCI, ComCast, Cox, @Home) in beta testing and test marketing with cable subscribers leading to the deployment of cable modem service offerings using the General Instrument Cable Modem technologies.

  • Served as technical liaison to Hughes Systems for star wars program and to NASA for guidance system testing and evaluation for space shuttle.
