C3. A general description of the applicant's business and other activities.

The .Org Foundation, as a nonprofit foundation, will be established as the successor .org registry operator and eNom, Inc., an accredited ICANN registrar, will be the for-profit registry service provider, contracted by the registry operator, .Org Foundation, to perform the technical implementation of the registry operator's policy. The Foundation has put in place a model that fully addresses the requirements of the .org registry proposal and the criteria for assessment determined by ICANN.

The .Org Foundation is committed to establishing a broad variety of mechanisms for serving the needs of the .org community reflecting as much diversity as possible. To address the issue of representation and inclusion of the .org community in the operation and policies governing the .org registry The .Org Foundation will implement the following:
- Regularly scheduled "Open Forums" to discuss the needs and concerns of the .org community.
- Quarterly .org community meetings (rotating locations to all regions).
- Annual .org community Congress to establish policies and structures for the support of the .org registry and the .org community.
- Establish a Governance Plan (see Appendix A) that designates a specific number of Board Members be nominated by and elected from the .org community. The intention is to have stakeholders from the .org community give input and influence in the direction and oversight of The .Org Foundation.

A key objective of The .Org Foundation is to differentiate the .org TLD from TLDs intended for commercial purposes, promote and attract registrations from the global noncommercial community, and minimize defensive and duplicative registrations. One main area of focus will be clarifying the .org TLD through advertising and public relations.

C4. The applicant's type of entity (e.g., corporation, partnership, etc.) and law (e.g., Denmark) under which it is organized. Please state whether the applicant is for-profit or non-profit. If it is non-profit, please provide a detailed statement of its mission.

The .Org Foundation is a nonprofit organization registered with the State of Washington, U.S.A. (filing in process). Our mission is to efficiently serve the needs of .org registrants and the wider Internet community, via the Domain Name Server (DNS), to be the most accountable registry provider possible for the .org community and to, secondarily, foster self-sufficiency for nonprofit organizations worldwide through the use of Internet technologies. The .Org Foundation intends to fulfill its mission by implementing an action plan that includes the following:
- Operate the .org TLD registry to provide reliable and stable Internet support for the .org noncommercial user community.
- Provide, on a grant basis, Internet infrastructure.
- Develop partnerships with like organizations that have parallel goals.
- Promote best practices for nonprofit management.
- Provide a public forum for nonprofits to address needs and concerns.
- Hold regular meetings and an Annual Congress to address the information technology needs of the .org community.
- A Governance Plan (see Appendix A) that designates a specific number of Board Members be nominated by and elected from the .org community. The intention is to have stakeholders from the .org community give input and influence in the direction and oversight of The .Org Foundation.

The .Org Foundation is a new entity, therefore no prior Annual Report is available. The Foundation's proposed budget is included for review - see Appendix B.
