Overview:

NCSG will host a session on privacy and human rights at ICANN. The purpose of this session is to bring stakeholders up to date on the following key areas of work at ICANN:

  • The issue of privacy in the context of human rights, and the emerging work of the Human Rights Cross Community Working Party
  • The issue of privacy and human rights in the context of the new RDS or WHOIS directory
  • The issue of privacy and human rights in the context of domain name registration, and the tension with access to information and law enforcement desires for identification of Internet users

We have assembled a panel of experts to brief on these issues, and then we will open the floor for a debate on how ICANN can move forward to improve its respect for privacy through these and other initiatives
