On 2 November 2017, the ICANN Board passed a resolution requesting the SSAC to conduct studies to present data, analysis and points of view on .CORP, .HOME, and .MAIL and other Collision Strings.1 In the resolution, the Board also requested the SSAC to do the work in a thorough, inclusive, timely, organized and transparent manner. Fulfilling the Board’s request, the SSAC has proposed the Name Collision Analysis Project (NCAP) and will engage with the community in open consultations throughout the project and its initiation. ICANN61 is the first of such consultation. The purpose of this session is to raise community awareness on name collision issues and the Name Collision Analysis Project in accordance with the Board’s directive. The NCAP plan has been published for review and public comment by the community (see https://www.icann.org/public-comments/ncap-project-plan-2018-03-02-en). The SSAC will introduce the proposed project plan and share proposed methods for community involvement in the project. The SSAC will be available to answer questions about the project plan and to take suggestions from the community regarding the project. The SSAC will be revising the project plan in response to community input and then submitting it for ICANN Board review and approval. Agenda: ? Welcome and Session Introduction (5 min.) ? Background (15 min.) ? Presentation of Name Collision Analysis Project Plan (30 min.) ? Highlighted areas for feedback (10 min.) ? Community Discussion (20 min)
