GNSO - RPM working group (3 of 4)

The GNSO’s Review of All Rights Protection Mechanisms (RPMs) Policy Development Process (PDP) Working Group was chartered in March 2016 to conduct a two-phased PDP. In Phase One, which is ongoing, the Working Group is reviewing all the RPMs that were developed for the 2012 New gTLD Program. In September 2017, the GNSO Council approved a request for extensive data collection on the Sunrise and Claims RPMS from the Working Group, involving surveys of registries, registrars, trademark and brand owners, actual and potential domain name registrants, and public interest groups and industry associations. The ICANN Organization commissioned Analysis Group, Inc., an external consulting firm, to develop and administer the surveys in collaboration with the Working Group. The surveys were launched on 06 September and widely distributed inside and outside of the ICANN community. At this thir of four open community sessions being held at ICANN63, this is a Working Group meeting where Analysis Group will present initial survey findings. In addition, the Working Group will agree on a procedural approach for handling the development of proposals based on the survey results.
