Recent data from ICANN indicates that there have been few applicants for the Applicant Support Program (ASP) for the next round of new gTLDs, and non-ICANN accredited registrars report that ICANN requirements are cost prohibitive to accreditation. Presented in conjunction with the Registrar Stakeholder Group (RrSG), this plenary will survey the existing requirements to becoming a registry operator and a registrar, the potential hurdles these present to those in underserved regions, and potential solutions to increase participation in these regions.
