No Ngati Ranginui, Ngai Tamarawaho ahau
I am from the indigenous peoples (Maori) of Aotearoa (New Zealand) and tribe of Ngati Ranginui from the Tauranga region, leading and advocating for Maori voices in internet governance and inclusion in the shaping of the future of the internet. Along with other indigenous leaders, we are in the process of establishing a coalition of indigenous peoples from within the Asia Pacific Region, and with a view to broadening this out to other interested indigenous nations, from 2026. I am interested in forming collaborative partnerships and approaches to enabling equitable opportunities for Maori and indigenous voices in internet governance, and working to lead solutions to address digital equity, data sovereignty, pathways to growing Maori community capability including youth. Indigenous peoples must be part of the internet not as an afterthought, but foundational to the whole - a key, unique stakeholder of multi stakeholderism. If sovereignty, and community empowerment resonates for you, I'd love to connect and korero (chat).
