Blocking Similar names
One of the problems with top level domain names is
that others may register your same domain name under a different top level
domain. Many companies combat this by registering their name under all top
level domains, such as .COM and .NET. This problem will grow as
additional top level domains are introduced.
I suggest adding the ability to BLOCK or ALIAS
domains at the top level for a smaller fee. Using Coke as an
example.
Register COKE.COM for the standard $35 annual
fee
Add an alias(or)block for COKE.[anything] for a $15
upcharge
My previous post suggest eliminating top level domains entirely, but in the
event that's not possible, this solution is viable as it only affects the top
level name database, and would centralize processing and handling while reducing
costs for customers who need to protect their trademarks.
