The ICANN Membership Advisory Committee has established a public mailing list, membership@icann.org, devoted to discussion of the issues involved in establishing a membership structure to elect At Large directors of ICANN. (For more information about the purpose of the committee, see http://www.icann.org/icann-pr25nov98.html.) A related study effort conducted by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society can be followed at http://cyber.harvard.edu/rcs/. In order to provide a useful forum for the exchange of information and opinion, the list will be governed by the following guidelines: --Do not post more than five
messages per individual per 24-hour period. The committee reserves the right to remove completely disruptive individuals from the list. Helpful suggestions for list participation: 1. Pick a good "Subject" header. Replying to a subject that says "Re: ICANN" is easy but makes it hard for others to find out what you are posting about. The result is likely to be that people will delete your message without reading it. 2. Quote only a line or two of the post that you are replying to. 3. If you are unhappy with the direction of the list, start a thread on a subject that interests you. The list will become what you make of it, nothing more, nothing less. 4. Not all posts have to
have a reply sent to the entire list. Sometimes, it may be appropriate
to send a personal reply. If you want to join this list, please send a message to majordomo@icann.org with the line "subscribe membership" as the body of the message. To remove yourself
from this list, please send a message to majordomo@icann.org with the
line "unsubscribe membership" as the body of the message. Comments concerning the layout, construction and functionality of this site should be sent to webmaster@icann.org.
