Tentative Agreements
among ICANN, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and Network Solutions,
Inc.

On September 28, 1999, the Department of
Commerce (DoC), the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and
Numbers (ICANN), and Network Solutions, Inc. (NSI) announced
that they had tentatively reached a series of agreements to resolve
outstanding differences among the three parties.
The ICANN Board actively encourages the
global Internet community to review the proposed agreements and
to submit comments via the ICANN Public Comment Forum. The public
comment period will be thirty days; comments should be submitted
by October 29, 1999. The agreements will go before the ICANN
Board for final consideration at its Los Angeles meeting on November
4, 1999.
