Description

7. Is your organization constituted so that participation by individual
Internet users who are citizens or residents of countries within the
Geographic Region in which your organization is based will predominate in
your organization's operation?

Yes ; although there are persons on our mailing list who do not live in
Trinidad and Tobago.

8. Describe your organization's constituents/membership (number,
citizenship/location, defining characteristic - e.g. profession for
professional societies):

about 100 persons, the majority living in Trinidad and Tobago with others
living in the US, Canada and UK. Membership in the Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society is open to
anyone interested in computers, regardless of what computer hardware or software they use, or how
much computer experience they have, or what job they have or whether they are still studying.

9. Explain the eligibility requirements (if any) for your organization's
constituents/membership (if you provide a written application for admission
as a member, you may attach a copy):

The eligibility requirements for anyone joining is to have an email address
so that they can join our mailing list for announcements, and an interest in computing.

10. In what language/s does your organization conduct its business?
English.

11. Provide support for the statement that your organization is
self-supporting (by answering "yes" you confirm that it will not rely on
ICANN for funding):

Yes, the TTCS is self-supporting ; members participating in our activites
pay a contribution fee to cover costs.

12. Describe your organization's structure (e.g. governing and
decision-making bodies and processes):

The TTCS is incorporated as a non-profit organisation in 2004 with three
directors. The directors along with a core group of long-term trusted members are involved in the
decision making process, along with consultations via our discusion email list and public meetings.

13. Does your organization commit to supporting its individual
constituents'/membership's informed participation in ICANN?

Yes, we are committed to informing and allowing our members to participate
in ICANN.

14. Describe how your organization keeps its constituents/membership
informed about, and enables them to participate in, decisions regarding
issues of interest:

We have an announce mailing list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ttcs_announce/) for all members
where announcements/notices about the TTCS activities as well as information affecting computer
users (e.g policies published by Gov't) are posted. Persons who reply with comments are received
by admin@ttcsweb.org. There is also a voluntary discussion email list (http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/ttcs/) where persons can comment about about the annoucement. Also, such topics are bought up at monthly meetings where persons attending can discuss. At times, special meetings are called to discuss and formulate a response to various computer-related laws
and policies published for comment by the Trinidad and Tobago Government and related bodies
(e.g the Telecommunication Authority of Trinidad and Tobago). The final comments are posted to
the mailing list and on our website at http://www.ttcsweb.org/articles/computer-laws/

The TTCS website at http://www.ttcsweb.org/ also has information about the group, http://www.ttcsweb.org/about.htm. Also, our mailing lists ttcs announce and ttcs (discuss) are public mailing lists where anyone NOT on the mailing list can view the emails posted on the lists.

The Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society (TTCS) is a computer user group based in Trinidad.
Formed in 1997, our goals are to:

  • Be an informal forum where computers, related technologies and related
    social issues can be discussed.
  • Keep current with the events in the local Information Technology (IT) and
    telecommunications industries.
  • Network local computer users so that they can share knowledge and
    improve upon their experiences with modern technology.

organization's constituents/membership:

One key issue is the handling of the .tt TLD

19. If formed, will your organization commit to assisting the Regional
At-Large Organization (RALO) for the region in which your organization is
based in performing its function?
