Internet users who are citizens or residents of countries within the

organisation's operation?Membership and participation in ISOC-AU is open to all Internet users. In
practice, as the Australian chapter of the global Internet Society, members
are usually citizens or residents of Australia, although we do have some
overseas members, and anyone with an interest in development of the Internet in
Australia is welcome to join. - Describe your organization's constituents/membership (number, citizenship/location,
defining characteristic - e.g. profession for professional societies):
ISOC-AU members are spread throughout metropolitan, rural and regional
Australia. They include network and IT professionals, business owners, domain
name registrars, research organisations, farmers, health service professionals
and consumer and disability groups.Individual Memberships - around 100 members, both Concession and Full
Organisational Memberships - 24 Foundation and 12 Enterprise members.

Objectives

ISOC-AU is the Australian Chapter of the global Internet Society (ISOC), a not-
for-profit membership organization founded in 1991, which provides leadership
in Internet related standards, education, and policy. Chapters of the Internet
Society are expected to serve the interests of a segment of the global
Internet community in a manner consistent with the mission and principles of the
Internet Society. Internet Society MISSION - from

and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world."
