RALO Signings >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Hello, everyone. Hello, hi. It's now good afternoon. Hello. Yoo-hoo, people! Good afternoon, everyone. Hello, hi. We're nearly ready to start. We -- the finalization of the structure for participation for individual Internet users in ICANN. We've had a very long and rough passage to this point, but we have finally arrived. And, Vint, are you ready? Are you ready? So I will invite Vint Cerf to make some comments. >>VINT CERF: Well, knowing that this represents a major milestone in the public participation in ICANN, namely, the final RALO to create the ALAC structure, this is a very significant moment. And having watched this process take place over a long period of time, with the efforts of a number of people who were persevering, is a very impressive final result. As you mentioned earlier, this is just the beginning now of a whole new chapter in the functioning of ICANN. So I look forward as chairman to the input that we will get from the ALAC in this new structure and the opportunity to relay information in the other direction, to help educate people about the way the Internet is evolving. So congratulations on this one. I hope we have the signatures here waiting somewhere -- >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: We do. >>VINT CERF: -- to complete this process. >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Paul, do you want to say a few words? >>PAUL TWOMEY: No, I just, as I said to the -- to several people at several meetings during the week, I think it's just been a great conclusion of a process, and also congratulations to those in North America who have managed to bring forward this RALO. And I think the continuing introduction of very professional organizations that are related with consumer affairs issues for a long time I think is an indication of the growing maturity and sort of accelerating maturity of this at-large representation. So I congratulate you on that and I'm looking forward to putting my signature on these pieces of paper. >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Thank you very much. Now, I will call each signing representative to the stage. And if you can stay on stage immediately after signing for a group photograph. In the interests of time, going to start with -- going to go really quickly. First, America at Large, Mr. Randy J. Glass. [ Applause ] >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Telecommunities Canada, Mr. Gareth Shearman. >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: N-cap, Mrs. Darlene Thompson. Association for Community Networking, Mr. Michael Maranda. The North American region also has elected their officers to ALAC. They are Mr. Beau Brendler of consumer reports WebWatch and Robert Guerra of Privaterra. [ Applause ] >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Then photos and -- >> The booze is coming! >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: I think we wanted to take -- we wanted a photo of Vint and Paul with the North American regional reps. So we have enough photos and stuff. >> Move as close as we can. >>PAUL TWOMEY: Just go back further, Kieren. >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Then can we call the members of the At-Large Advisory Committee on stage to take a picture with the newly formed regional organization. Wendy, you must attend. >>VINT CERF: Now all you have is work ahead of you. >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: I just got reminded that, unfortunately, owing to fortunate circumstances, the Asia-Pacific RALO, which was one of the first to form, has not officially signed their documents. So we still have one more of these to go through when we get there. >>PAUL TWOMEY: Well done, everybody. Well done, congratulations. >> Cheers. >> Cheers. [ Applause ] >>JACQUELINE MORRIS: Thank you very much. And that's pretty much it.
