ICANN Meetings in Shanghai

ICANN's next round of meetings will be held 28-31 October 2002, in Shanghai, China. The meetings are free to attend, and open to any interested person. ICANN encourages broad participation in its bottom-up consensus-development process. You can take part in these meetings by attending in person, by taking part in the webcast and remote participation opportunities, and/or by joining one of the various ICANN-related mailing lists.

Various pre-meeting activities will be held in Shanghai on 27 October 2002. This web page gives information about the pre-meeting and meeting activities and arrangements.

The Host Committee has provided a local website with information regarding the area, the meeting, and local hotels.

Details about the meetings will be posted on this page as they become available. Please check back often!

VISA AND VACCINATION INFORMATION

Visas: A passport (valid for at least three months after your departure from China) is required to enter China. A visa may also be required. Please contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate Office of China for details and relevant forms.

If required, a letter of invitation may be obtained by sending a request by e-mail to meeting@icann.org, include the following information:

  • Your name as it appears on your passport
  • Your nationality
  • Your occupation/profession
  • Your passport number
  • Place where you will apply for a Chinese visa
  • Your arrival date
  • The name of your hotel in Shanghai
  • Contact methods (fax number and postal address are important)

SCHEDULE AND AGENDA

The meeting will last from 28-31 October 2002. There will also be pre-meeting activities on 27 October 2002. This following tentative schedule is subject to adjustment. Updated 28 October 2002.

For security reasons, meeting participants will be asked to show their passport when picking up their official nametags at the conference registration desk. Name tags will be required to enter the venue for all meetings. Pre-registration is encouraged, although on-site registration will be accepted at the registration desk.

While pre-registration is not required, the information will be used to prepare printed nametags. Pre-registration will also assure that you're kept up to date about logistical details as information becomes available.
