The registry operator, KDD Internet Solutions Co., Ltd. (KDDISOL), is a new company established in June 2000 for the purpose of advancing internet-related activity in Asian/Pacific markets. It is currently hosting two name servers of the existing gTLDs - .com, .net and .org. These systems are located in Tokyo (the first such system to be deployed in Asia) and in Los Angeles. KDDISOL is a 100% owned subsidiary of KDD Corporation of Japan (KDD). KDD has a long and successful history in the business of international telecommunications. KDDISOL is fully supported by KDD Corporation in every aspect of its business. The substantial financial and technical resources of KDD will greatly contribute to the successful introduction of a new gTLD. Significant growth is anticipated in the market for TLDs and KDD is pleased to offer its existing assets to assure that the global internet community continues to enjoy a superior level of service. For purposes of this proposal, therefore, it is appropriate to equate KDDISOL with KDD. In the following we describe the information about both KDDISOL and KDD as occasion arises.
