Mohammad Al Gergawi, 37, is a UAE National with a
clear vision of the future in the fast changing international marketplace.
Over the last 13 years, Gergawi has worked for the
Federal Government (Ministry of Finance), Dubai Municipality, Department of
Economic Development and is currently the Director General of Dubai Technology,
Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority.
A business undergraduate from Michigan, USA,
Gergawi’s career high points include orchestration and development of the
Dubai Quality Award, the Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Summer Surprises, Dubai
Press Club and most recently, the Dubai Internet City – the world’s first
free zone for e-business, IT and media. Common
to all these projects is Gergawi’s creative urge to innovate coupled with
finesse in execution to world standards.
Gergawi is also on the Board of Emaar
Properties, is the Vice Chairman of Masharie, Vice Chairman of Dubai Handicapped
Club and Secretary General of UAE Federation of Disabled Athletes.
One of Gergawi’s key strength is his ability to
motivate his peers and create a strong team of people who can learn from him and
continue to execute with equal success. “The
success of a project (or contribution of the person running it) can only be
judged if you find it runs smoothly without the initiator at the helm” says
Gergawi.
