Description
Part 3: The GNSO's Review of All Rights Protection Mechanisms (RPMs) Policy Development Process (PDP) Working Group was chartered in March 2016 to conduct a two-phased PDP. In Phase One, which is ongoing, the Working Group is reviewing all the RPMs that were developed for the 2012 New gTLD Program. In September 2017, the GNSO Council approved a request for extensive data collection on the Sunrise and Claims RPMs from the Working Group, involving surveys of registries, registrars, trademark and brand owners, actual and potential domain name registrants, and public interest groups and industry associations. In the third of three open community sessions being held at ICANN62, a Sub Team will hold a working session to review responses to questions for URS providers. The URS is a dispute resolution procedure, based substantially on the longstanding Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy, that allows trademark owners to obtain a suspension of a domain name that was registered and used in bad faith by a third party without legitimate rights in the name. All interested community members are welcome to attend this session.
