IGF Engagement and Outreach Workshop
08:00 - 09:30 UTC on Tuesday, 12 March
Description
This year marks the 14th annual IGF meeting. It will be hosted by the Government of Germany, in Berlin, from 25 to 29 November 2019: https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/igf-2019 [intgovforum.org]
The IGF serves equally to all stakeholders (governments, civil society, private sector and technical community) from developing and developed countries from all regions.
The overall participation of the communities from the Asia Pacific region is disproportionately small compared to the population and number of countries in the region, as well as in comparison to other regions. This especially relates to the number of workshop proposals received to the IGF’s annual call for workshops.
This IGF workshop will aim at engaging with stakeholders from the region present at the ICANN64 meeting in Japan and exploring ways for improving the participation of the communities from the region into the IGF 2019 processes. In an interactive manner, the workshop content will focus on outlining ways of participation at the IGF and in particular how to submit a good workshop proposal.
The workshop will feature a presentation on a statistical overview of the Asia Pacific communities participation at the IGF and will seek for inputs from present attendees on how to improve this matter.
Provisional Agenda:
1. Welcome and introductions (5 min)
2. Statistical Overview of the Asia Pacific participation at the IGF (10 min)
3. How to increase participation from the region at the IGF 2019 processes? (20 min)
