Room:
Durbar Hall

What it is | This workshop is held as a public consultation to receive input from relevant stakeholders on topics that need to be dealt with under the fast track approach for the introduction of a limited number of IDN ccTLDs. The working group (IDNC WG) tasked with developing this work is comprised of members of the GNSO, ccNSO, GAC, ALAC, SSAC, the technical community and ICANN staff. The IDNC WG is following the timeline outlined in the charter for the group that was resolved by the ICANN Board during the ICANN meeting in LA - per this timeline the Initial Report is anticipated to have been published by the time of the workshop and consultation on this report will hence be the core topic for the workshop.

Why it's important | The fast-track process aims at the introduction of a limited number of IDN ccTLDs within a short time frame in order to: meet near-term demand, gain experience in dealing with IDNs as ccTLDs, and inform the country code policy development process (IDN ccPDP was launched on 2 October 2007). The consultation in this workshop will assist IDNC WG to define the topics that need to be addressed under the fast track approach.

Who should attend? | All relevant stakeholders with an interest in the continued IDN development and in particular those with a near-term demand that the fast track approach is aiming at covering. For example,
. Government representatives and policy makers
. ccTLD managers & GNSO constituencies members with a general interest in IDNs and in particular, IDN ccTLDs
. Technical community and specialists in IDNs end-users
