gTLD Program Update
ICANN's new gTLD program will bring about a dramatic expansion of the Top Level Domain Space with 1930 applications for new generic Top Level Domains (gTLD) submitted as of the end of the application window in May 2012. Much work has been done since by ICANN’s staff to coordinate the evaluation and processing of these applications. Initial Evaluation results for applications in the first 1200 priorities are now posted. In this session, Christine Willett, Vice President of gTLD Operations along with Trang Nguyen, Russ Weinstein, Karen Lentz, Francisco Arias, and Krista Papac will provide updates on the various aspects of the New gTLD Program including Evaluation, Objections and dispute resolution, Contracting, Operational Readiness, RPMs, Post-delegation Dispute Mechanism and more. New gTLD applicants and anyone interested in the new gTLD program are encouraged to attend.
Anyone interested in the New gTLD Program, particularly its current status. For individuals that are new to the program and interested in learning the basics, we recommend also attending the newcomers track.
