GNSO RAA Privacy & Proxy Services Accreditation Issues PDP Working Group
Summary description of the meeting – In initiating negotiations for the 2013 Registrar Accreditation Agreement (RAA) in October 2011, the ICANN Board also requested an Issue Report from the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) for a Policy Development Process (PDP) to deal with issues not otherwise covered by the RAA negotiations that would be suited to a PDP. In June 2013, the Board approved the final 2013 RAA. The GNSO is now proceeding with the PDP on the remaining issues under the 2013 RAA, which have been identified as those relating to privacy and proxy services and their accreditation.
This session is a meeting for the Working Group (WG) that will develop recommendations for these issues, The WG is expected to consider the results from other, related community efforts on the publicly-available Whois registration data directory, including a newly-concluded study on privacy/proxy abuse commissioned by the GNSO, the results of which were recently published for public comment.
Anyone interested in those aspects of the WHOIS system that impact the public availability of domain name registrant data, in particular, policy issues related to the creation of an accredited privacy/proxy service program by ICANN, is welcome to attend this session.
