| Being the head of the Intellectual Property and Information Technology of Baker & McKenzie (the world's largest law firm) for Mexico's Northern region, I have been deeply involved in the development of the Internet and electronic commerce. We have developed a strong relation with NIC Mexico regularly discussing matters involving both intellectual property (mainly trademark issues) and domain names. Due to the global nature of Baker & McKenzie, we are also regularly involved in trademark and domain name matters with the NICs of various countries and in numerous jurisdictions.
Aware of the importance of deepen in the study of these issues, we created -and currently head- the Center for the Study and Development of Intellectual Property to educate ourselves in these matters.

| I firmly believe that we are being witness of perhaps the most significant development of international relations among individuals (as opposed to countries, as it was in the past). The advent of the Internet gives us the chance, as never before, of interacting directly with our peers worldwide. ICANN represents the best example of this new manner of dealing with international relations. For me it is a clear example of how the Internet can and must be regulated by people around the globe that know and feel this new on-line culture. With this in mind, is that I submit my nomination, hoping to be not only an spectator but a active participant in this new and exiting revolution and help others to do likewise.
