Statement addressing the candidates qualifications
and experience specifically relevant to
(a) ICANN's technical and
administrative responsibilities, and
(b) your leadership and policy-level
roles.
|
a) My primary job is to study, develop and deploy enterprise-wide standards (both on technical and organizational topics)in order
to harmonize the usage of my company quite large private network (more than 40.000 IP hosts on 1900+ separate subnets).
Dealing with large environments it is a quite delicate matter and I'm here to bring my skills and experience developed in these last 10 years.
b) As a member of Italian Naming Authority I was a strong supporter (really fighting) for adding a Mandatory Administrative Procedure based on ICANN/WIPO one to domain name registration rules and policy for the ccTLD '.it'.
This goal has been achieved this month.
I strongly believe in common, simple rules as an effective way to kindly regulate the wide intricate cloud it is becoming the Internet.

ICANN RELATED INTERESTS |
ICANN-related interests, including:
(a) Employment and consulting relationships
(b) Ownership or investment interests in any ICANN-related businesses
(c) Official positions in any ICANN-related businesses or organizations
|
I'm not related to ICANN for any business or consulting or investments, and I'm not involved into any ICANN business or organization.
The only ICANN relationship I have is a request for some port-number
assignment made for my company in March 2000. I'm currently addressing
some IESG concerns about it.
As individual, I registered a domain name in order to develop a personal web
site. It is still undeveloped for the 'usual' lack of time but I'm anyway placing
there some additional information on my points of view for those of you that
would like to read. The URL is: http://www.grunz.com/icann/index.html
|
BACKGROUND |
Background information, personal statement, URL, or other information
you would like posted in connection with your name on the ICANN
website.
|
I'm 36 years old, not married and I have no childs. I work in Milan, Italy at ENEL.IT which is the company which provides IT services mostly to other company belonging to ENEL Group (NYSE:EN) which owns the largest electricity board in Italy.
I do not have management responsabilities, just technical ones, and I'm currently directly working on value added services for our private IP network (like high-end SNA connectivity, QoS and so on).
About ICANN I'm directly experiencing some difficulties due to the "slow" nature of transition from IANA to ICANN about protocol assignment maintainance. This is an area where I would like to help in order to clear-out current black-holes which make the whole process some time too much binding or undeciding and in some cases not so transparent as it should be.
I'm an active member of the Italian Naming Authority (ITA-PE) which is in charge to develop rules and policies for ccTLD '.it' domain name registrations.
I'm following ITA-PE and ICANN activities in my own time with no support or involvement from my employer.
