Statement addressing the candidates qualifications
and experience specifically relevant to

administrative responsibilities, and

I have headed numerous academic, nonprofit,
and commercial organizations and so am
familiar with the processes and roles that
will be involved. My expectations for the amount
of change that can be made and the rate it can
be done are therefore reasonable.
I have repeatedly done battle on both sides
of domain dispute issues (and with
registrars), and while the
current process has improved, it still
favors the larger party. I am a firm believer in
trademark laws, but variations in laws
make this difficult.

The short version: Computer engineering
degree from IIT.edu, where I was involved
in many student organizations. Started a web
design and consulting company in 1995.
distributed.net in 1997 - which later
became DCTI. Several day jobs including embedded
systems and storage area networks. Currently
working on the Cosm project - a
architecture for distributed
computing and omniplatform software development.
The TLD mess is artificial, since DNS can
handle any number of "top" level
domains. People should be allowed to register
any ASCII domain name they think people can
remember. The registrars should be allowed
to do registration for any such string in
a coordinated manner. Due to the vast amounts
of money involved, this is unlikely to
become policy soon.
