Employer(s)
President/CEO - nondotcom, inc., Carlsbad, California

The company's core focus is Internet based services: domain name registration, web hosting services, and total business solutions. Responsibilities include: managing the venture team, vendors, partners, investors, employees, and most importantly monitoring the legal events, which led to the formation of ICANN and the competitive registration environment. Additional responsibilities included the research and preparation of our company's ICANN application.

My educational and professional background is a unique blend of science, business, and the law. I have more than 15 years working experience in large corporations and small businesses, while managing and implementing new technology.

QUALIFICATIONS
Statement addressing the candidates qualifications and experience specifically relevant to
   (a) ICANN's technical and administrative responsibilities, and
   (b) your leadership and policy-level roles.
a)Technical - working to integrate technology into a business forum over the last ten years has provided me with a stable foundation. Building upon this foundation over the past several years, I have become verse in the intricacies of DNS, IPs, TLDs, and what results when it all works right - the Internet. Administrative - utilizing my legal background, but cognoscente of the needs of businesses, I am intimately familiar with the administrative role and responsibility of ICANN; however, I cannot forget the real benefactors of the Internet - individuals. While ICANN has been created to be the guardian of the Internet, not all is focused on intellectual property rights. ICANN also has a responsibility to us all.

b)Making policy decisions is not always easy, but decisions must be made, less we be forever lost in the realm of the committee. Decision-making should be the result of proper research and facts. My management experience has taught me to gather those facts from those who will be most impacted by the policy decisions, for they are most likely to have the best solutions. Being able to reach out and let those who will live by the rules help to make the rules is leadership. A leader is one who knows how to direct the discussion, but never lets the discussion be his direction.

BACKGROUND
Background information, personal statement, URL, or other information you would like posted in connection with your name on the ICANN website.
The Internet is not new, nor is the architecture of the Internet new; however, the recent explosive growth in Internet traffic is new. The result of new and emerging national and international societies, seeking a forum for the exchange of ideas, products, and services has caused the Internet to emerge as the universal economic platform. The difficulty arises when the question is asked, “How do we maintain the stability of the Internet without restricting the foremost core value – free exchange of information?” With proper direction, leadership, and support, ICANN will ensure the infinite stability of the Internet. Creating a competitive registration forum and introducing new TLDs may be the answer; however, ICANN must acknowledge its role as the guardian of the Internet's core values. ICANN must be prepared financially, administratively, technologically, and judicially to manage this virtual society. Like all societies, we must be willing to give up some rights and freedoms to attain a higher level of citizenship. Businesses must not be asked to resign their intellectual property rights. Authors and musicians must not be asked to forego their copyrights. We have laws in place to deal with these issues and the Internet is not an exception. ICANN must not become a police power or a government. ICANN is the Board of Directors for the Internet, a corporation we are all shareholders in. We should seek to be facilitators in dispute resolution, empanelling an advisory review board to judicially resolve all Internet disputes. We as shareholders must be willing to be accountable for our conduct, content, and responsible use of the Internet. For those who would seek to deprive us of our Internet freedoms, be forewarned. Acknowledging the need for Internet regulations and policies is not an acknowledgement for restrictions on freedom of access and speech. Responsible use for the furtherance of the exchange of ideas and opinions should govern the Internets content. The role of ICANN should be narrowly tailored to achieve one thing - for everyone to have a presence on the Internet.

I will seek to ensure that the core values that originated with the Internet are not lost to politics or business. I believe that there must be a balance of regulation and a promoting of individual expression. I ask that you give me your support as fellow Members@Large to represent you, the shareholders of the Internet.
