Professionally and personally I have extensive experience transacting protocols requisite for facilitating progress in international and multicultural environments. As a patent professional, I routinely negotiate with associates in almost every country in the world. As if my professional multi-cultural activities were not enough, my wife is fluent in nine languages; so our home is often more multi-cultural than my job.
A preponderance of my professional activities relate to Software/Internet patenting, which demands simultaneously considering short-term and long-term intellectual property issues, while maintaining well formed opinions of potential litigation trends.
Typically, I represent established and aspiring multi-national corporations in the broad business fields of e-commerce, telecommunications, and banking; and in more classical quantitative fields of imaging, knowledge engineering and encryption. In this context, I am constantly attempting to maintain a clear view of Internet-related legal trends in numerous jurisdictions, legal remedies that might legitimately be applied on behalf of patented internet technologies, and alternate technical solution which may be beyond the scope of presently accepted aspects of Internet.
In light of my unique vantage relating to technological and legal milieu surrounding Internet, I am often solicited by fellow professionals to formulate strategic operational policies to comply with specific trademark and domain name expectations.
By virtue of my qualifications and experience, I can contribute to forming a future for the Internet, which simultaneously will respect necessary aspects of legal structure without imposing conceptual barriers to the Internet's technical diversification.

I am licensed in Israel as an "Interdisciplinary Engineer" and registered by Israel's Ministry of Justice as a "Patent Attorney". I was awarded a B.Sc. in "Science Engineering & Technology" from Northwestern University (USA 1977) and an M.Sc. in "Applied Mathematics & Computer Science" from the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel 1987). I am a former member of AAAS, IEEE, ACM (SigGraph, SigSim, SigCaph), and ASP (American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing).
A regular part of my professional services, as a patent attorney, I review ongoing legal issues of potential convergence between trademarks and domain names. Furthermore, on the technology side, I draft patents requiring in-depth knowledge of Internet protocols and IP addressing. In order to properly draft Internet technology patents, I typically compare novel to known solution in the areas of: Quality of Service; ISO/OSI; Wireless & other protocols; Encryption; and Voice over IP. My personal ongoing program to maintain some reasonable look-ahead in Internet technology, includes regularly reading technical Internet-II related papers.
As a former director of the mapping section of the Israel Census Bureau, which is part of the Prime Minister's Office's Central Bureau of Statistics, I have a deep appreciation of the complex dynamics of regulatory infrastructures. My many years of experience with mapping infrastructures includes many facets of economic and technical tradeoffs that typically occur in regulated utilities; e.g. gas, water, telephone, transportation, etc. According to my experience, these regulatory infrastructures embody the nearest conceptual antecedents to the technical and regulatory tradeoffs that must evolve for the Internet.
While the Internet provides the common man with a global conduit through which to express his ideas and technological aspirations in a way that produces a grand ensemble of sub-cultural milieu that has not been heretofore feasible, e-commerce which shares the same international communications infrastructure requires clear legal limits so as not to become confused with e-crime. Simply stated, I would like to contribute my ongoing evaluation of the tradeoffs that exist when considering introducing or modifying Internet regulatory policies, especially when these policies may invariably cause potential draconian technological manifestations.
My technical and legal qualifications are adequate to bring such a contribution forth, my motivation is simply to provide my substantially unbiased analysis to the necessary deliberations that must be forthcoming at this critical juncture in the converging integration of mankind's communications media.
