QUALIFICATIONS |
Statement addressing the candidates qualifications
and experience specifically relevant to
(a) ICANN's technical and
administrative responsibilities, and
(b) your leadership and policy-level
roles.

My interest for ICANN mainly stems from two sources, to be presented in
length in my personal statement, but deserving a short reference here:
My enchantment with modern technology (because I understand its marvel, its complexity, its power and its limits) and my enchantment with democracy (for the same reasons). I have always been a person of the Sciences, and I, more or less, know physics, computing, computers and networks, but I have also been a person of the Arts (I like painting, writing and my links to cinema because of my father and to music because of my wife have always been strong). Since I am currently a PhD-student (I am defending my thesis this October), I have no links with any company or any organization.
(a,b):
During my student and my PhD-student years, I have worked in labs with
many persons and I have found myself operating smoothly within
hierarchies, politics and tensions, even whenever I was assigned
administrative duties.
(a,b):
I have worked as a freelance adviser at many small firms where I have organized their computer network facilities. Almost all the time, I took all key decisions and set up policies for structure, administration and future development of the facilities.

Apart from being an awarded webmaster and designer, a normal
internet user, and a certified computer professional, I am physicist.
And when anyone reflects on the creation and evolution of the www,
clearly understands how original and creative physicists can be!
I also own the http://amorphousart.gr
domain.

STATEMENT:
Living in a new millennium, we all need to see things from a new
perspective in order to understand the changes that happen around us.
This can happen if we cultivate a Leonardo-da-Vinci-way of being and creating. This is the only way to survive in the new world keeping our self-respect unbroken. One should have and should express an opinion on things. An informed, sensitive and daring opinion. An opinion with aesthetic value. A thesis, not an antithesis. Then, democracy will be again, as important and as valuable as it was in the time of its creation in ancient Greece!
We are neither learning the piano to become a new Richter, nor we are
learning electricity to create the new microwave oven. We are neither reading Aristotle to present papers in seminars, nor we are enjoying being in a theatrical performance because we aspire becoming a new sir Laurence Olivier. Few of us are doing all these because they are the new Einstein, Picasso, or Nijinsky, but, we, the rest, we are doing all these in order to become capable of recognizing and ameliorating our limits, in order to understand ourselves and the others, in order to welcome the others and the foreigners. In order to infiltrate happiness, optimism and awareness to our children. In order to make our children better than ourselves. We are doing all these in order to be happy, and understand why we are happy, and, in order to understand when and why we are not happy and to change that!
