ICANN São Paulo meeting site

ICANN has eight supporting organisations (listed below), made up of specialists from each particular field and which provide policy recommendations to the ICANN Board for approval.

Brief explanations of each is given below, along with a link to more information on each.

• ALAC - At-Large Advisory Committee
  ALAC represents the individual Internet user and is responsible for considering and providing advice to ICANN from that perspective.
• ASO - Address Supporting Organization
  The ASO comprises the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) and develops recommendations on Internet Protocol (IP) address policy.
• ccNSO - Country-Code Names Supporting Organization
  The ccNSO represents the managers of countries' individual Internet spaces such as Britain's .uk or Gabon's .ga.
• GAC - Governmental Advisory Committee
  The GAC represents the governments of the world and considers ICANN's activities and policies particularly with regard to national laws or international agreements.
• GNSO - Generic Names Supporting Organization
  The GNSO represents the generic top-level domains such as .com, .org etc. It comprises six constituencies and develops recommendations on domain name policy.
• RSSAC - Root-Server System Advisory Committee
  The RSSAC provides advice over the operation of the root name servers of the domain name system.
• SSAC - Security and Stability Advisory Committee
  The SSAC comprises 18 experts from across the supporting organisations that advise on security and integrity of the Internet's naming and address allocation systems.
• TLG - Technical Liaison Group
  The TLG represents standards bodies and provides advice on the technical standards that underlie the Internet.
