Session DetailsThis open town hall invites the ICANN community to surface human rights concerns across DNS policy and governance. Where do you see potential impacts on privacy, freedom of expression, accessibility, due process, or other fundamental rights in current or emerging policy work?
We'll begin with a live issue: the GAC's recent support for integrating PSWG authentication into urgent law enforcement disclosure requests through implementation rather than policy development. This raises questions about procedural safeguards, transparency, and the balance between operational efficiency and rights protections when disclosure mechanisms accelerate.
But the conversation doesn't stop there. We want to hear what's on your radar:
Are there policy processes where human rights dimensions aren't being adequately considered?Do you see risks emerging from the intersection of multiple technical or governance changes?
What safeguards are missing? What redress mechanisms should exist?How do proposed systems affect different populations—registrants, end users, civil society, marginalized communities—differently across regions?
This is a space for the community to flag concerns, share perspectives, and identify where human rights impact assessments or additional protections may be needed.
