Whois Clarifications

Since delegation of the first new gTLDs, ICANN has received several questions from registries and registrars regarding their respective RDDS services (e.g., WHOIS) output format. In an effort to provide clarification to these contracted parties regarding proper RDDS services output format, ICANN prepared and circulated a draft advisory to the numerous inquiries we had received respecting appropriate RDDS output format.

ICANN has since held numerous consultations with contracted and other interested parties, which raised some additional concern as to certain clarifications provided in the draft advisory. Based on these additional discussions and ICANN's agreement that changes were appropriate based on proper interpretation of the language, ICANN updated the draft advisory. However, because there continues to remain some concern from the contracted parties as to a few of the clarifications provided in the updated advisory, this session will invite input from the contracted parties and the community for the purpose of better understanding these concerns so that the advisory can be completed and published for the benefit of all registries and registrars.
