Question: Thanks to Lessig, Langenberg, Tiller. Comparing Hansen and Muron responses on same questions, to all candidates: In your opinion, who currently owns the software that gives access to and constructs the ccTLD registries? Please choose one a) US govt b) ccTLDequivalentofNSI d) ICANN d) other (please specify). Plsanswer next week.

The National Science Foundation and the US Government apparently regard NSI/Verisign as the owner of the software. This is kind of strange as it has been developed under the auspices of NSF. In any case, I think both the software and the data base shouldn't be owned by anyone. It's the job of registries to administrate TLDs. This doesn't include ownership of data.
