Date: 2000-09-24 03:16:49
Author: Vittorio Bertola <vb@vitaminic.net>
Question:
If elected, will you propose and/or support the abolition of the Nomination Committee in further At Large elections, so that all candidates must follow the same path to get to the ballot, increasing the fairness in the selection process?

Hi, Vittorio,
I am almost sure that I have answered this question before...
So, a short version again:
I don't mind a nomination committee's suggestions. However, officially and self -nominated candidates should be treated equally and be subject of the same election rules.

This election is the first one of this kind. Therefore it is one of the new Board Directors tasks to define and review the existing At-Large elections methods and voting systems.
I personally support nine At-Large Directors and therefore I will do my best to ensure that the four extended Directors will be replaced after their term by elected At-Large Directors.

I think the mixture of a nom com process and self nomination is good. Instead of abolishing the nom com process, I would propose a more open process for selection of the people to be in the nom com.
