Topic: Election of four missing At Large Director seats
Date: 2000-09-24 03:19:19
Author: Vittorio Bertola <vb@vitaminic.net>

Question: If elected, will you propose and/or support elections in year 2001 to elect four more At Large Directors, as required by the ICANN by-laws? How do you think that those four seats should be divided amongst the nations, and how many of them should go to Europe?

Yes, the election of the 4 missing At Large Directors has to be a key issue on ICANN's agenda. It has been suggested (before the bylaws were changed, that is) to elect the other 4 directors globally. I would support such a proposal - despite the fact that a global election may lead to an Asian majority on the board ;-)

Please look at the Question below (Selection rules for At Large Director candidates...)

Before making up my mind on these issues, I would like to see the result of the study to be presented not later than at the 2nd quarterly Board meting in 2001. In general I am in favour of electing four more At Large Directors because this gives a better balance between industrial/individual interests.
