What relationship do you believe the open-source community can have with the ICANN and the DNS system?

The open source community should have a relationship both with the technical supporting organizations within ICANN and the at large membership. With respect to the supporting organizations, the technical advantages of open source should be explored; from the at large community perspective, the open source community will be sharing a philosophy -- one that competes with/or complements ideas of other at large members.

The ICANN and DNS system can learn an
extraordinary amount from the
open-source or free software
communities. E.g., the value of enabling
competition, or minimizing control over
central resources, of enabling many
different players, etc.
