With respect to the supporting organizations, the technical advantages of open source should be explored; from the at large community perspective, the open source community will be sharing a philosophy -- one that competes with/or complements ideas of other at large members. E.g., the value of enabling competition, or minimizing control over central resources, of enabling many different players, etc.
