UDRP & Register.COM Problems/Retreats

Question:
UDRP doesn't cover problems with registrars, according to ICANN, WIPO and others contacted. What recourse will you offer domain holders who have had a domain removed by a registrar claiming, Confidentialty demands we not show you proof, but an internal audit now shows a technical error six months ago...

ICANN needs to establish better rules for individual domain name owners to cover problems with registrars. Financial recourse must be taken up with the courts. But domain reassignments may be within the power of ICANN to order in certain cases where rules set forth by ICANN have clearly been violated.

At this stage, ICANN has not built an
enforcement mechanism against
registrars. I would not want to erect one
either. For now, such problems should be
governed by ordinary contract law.
