Question:
For @large election don't you think that any candidate which have more affinity to a SO constituency (ISP,ccTLD for example) is improperly grabbing a place which should be instead made available for people with maybe different (and unrepresented) background?

No, five of the candidates have been elected by the Nomination Committee. They were asked if they have the time and if they want to do the job and five independent applicants decided to take on the forthcoming elections.

I do not think any of the current candidates have grabbed a place. They have been nominated, either by the nom com or by an endorsement process (self nom). The candidates will be judged by their personal qualifications and standpoints. The background of each of us has been forming our standpoints. The current employer has also played a part in building up a candidate's background. In the SOs the participants are playing as individuals or on behalf of professional organizations. The At Large membership is for individuals only. Many people in the SOs are also At-Large members, probably becaus they think (as I do) that the interests of individuals ALSO should be focused in the ICANN context. The important thing is that a Board member MUST be able to separate between local interests (employer, wife/husband, family, own income, etc.) and ICANN's interests. If not, I trust that the voters will not vote for him/her.
