Registrar review

This forum has been set up specifically to attract comments from the wider Internet on what they believe is the best way forward for dealing with the problems exposed by registrar RegisterFly.

It is a forum, so we welcome debate on the issue, however ICANN retains the right to delete posts that stray off-topic, make libellous claims or accusations or which become abusive.

The hope is that this forum will help ideas coalesce into firm suggested policy changes.

Confessions of a RFugee

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is AJ Doyle and I hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. I had been a registerfly customer since December of 2004. When I first registered my domain, I didn't really have the cash on hand to go more than a year. I registered for one year in December of 2004. In December of 2005, I went ahead and added an additional 2 years to my registration.

My domain wasn't due to expire until 12-15-2007 or so I thought.

Domain registrars

One thing that burns me up. I get tons of snail mail from registry companies if i do not have my domains privacy enabled or use false names. One reason is i hope ICANN allows users to pick who they move to a new registrar because of the registerfly situatino after the 31st. It should be done at Registerfly's dime. Icann should email the owners and decide where to go.

Registerfly

Registery fly is soon to be toast. I dont like fact if they force it up for bids that we may not get to choose if we do not move them by March 31. It costs to move domains. It may make some non profits and others.
We should be compensated for this hassle.

Registerfly

I think there should be more done to help people. Registerfly has to approve any moves. That takes a long while. There are people spending hundreds and thousands of dollars in fees to move them to a differnt registrar. I think Registerfly should pay for the transfers as punishment. It would be better than any fine.
