Discussions about IGF improvements have been taking place at different fora. The Working Group on improvements to the IGF established by the Chair of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) has concluded its second and last meeting on 24-25 March 2011 with no agreement on recommendations for improving the IGF. It was therefore suggested that the WG get an extension to complete its work. The fourteenth session of the CSTD will take place in Geneva on 23-27 May 2011 and a decision is expected to be made on steps going forward.

Also, the IGF community is meeting in Geneva on 18-19 May in preparation for the IGF annual meeting scheduled to take place in Nairobi on 27-30 September 2011.

This workshop is an opportunity for the ICANN Singapore participants to get updates on discussions about improvements as well as on preparations for Nairobi.
