GNSO IGO-INGO Access to Curative Rights Protection PDP WG
GNSO IGO-INGO Access to Curative Rights Protection Policy Development Process Working Group
In June 2014 the GNSO Council initiated a Policy Development Process (PDP) and chartered this Working Group to explore whether the existing Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS) process should be amended in order to address the specific needs of International Governmental Organizations (IGOs) and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs). The Working Group is discussing issues relating to IGO standing to file a complaint that can be considered equivalent to possessing trademark rights and whether sovereign immunity precludes IGOs from submitting to the current mutual jurisdiction requirement in the UDRP and URS. The Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) and IGOs themselves have provided some input as to these questions, and continue to engage with the Working Group. Anyone interested in domain name dispute resolution, IGO/INGO work, and the interplay between the GAC and GNSO on gTLD policy issues with implications for international law is invited to attend.
