Topic:
Membership service

Author: Jong Ho Kim <Jiniyoon@chollian.net>
Question:
I think that if the realist theory that humans possess the longing for power by nature is right, ICANN's election could become just another means of satisfying one's desire for power.
What kind of service all candidates can provide to the ICANN Membership.

I believe the primary task of board members is to reflect and to fulfill the requirements of Internet citizens to make reasonable decisions for interests of Internet but not for his own interests. To accomplish this task, a board member should contribute to information dissemination and interactively communicate with at-large members. Currently, I have already begun calling a team of young fellows from Asia/Australian/Pacific region for studying the requirements on Internet in different territories. I think the best service I could do is to communicate, communicate and communicate, with other board members as well as at-large members. I will not pursue narrow-minded governance of the Internet affairs. Besides, I am also interesting in the activities for outreach.

Interesting observation. I agree with the author that ICANN should not become a means to safisfy desire for power. An ICANN director should provide selfless service and himself should be audited from time to time by himself and his peers to ensure that his goals are for the protection and interest of the many and not to support the influencial or financially powerful few.
