Why not. Sounds nice.

In general, I support the idea that the Internet can be used to preserve cultural diversity and regional representation. In the case of .eu, there is a governing body based on treaties among 15 European nations, and therefore may fit into the ccTLD category. There is no such singly governing body for Asia in general, and therefore .asia may need to be considered as a gTLD. If there is a convincing need for a .asia, ICANN should consider it. At this point, I do not see such a develoment just yet.

This is a similar consideration with the .EU TLD for the european countries but with different boundary conditions. Remember Asia is much larger than EU. I am doubling the .asia could be realized in a short time. At first, we have to think what the .asia TLD belongs to, ccTLD or gTLD. I do not speak for new ccTLD as long as no enough large group of user will that. It seems to me it is a ccTLD. But, there is no Pan-Asia body like EU (former EC) in Asia. So, it should be gTLD. I support for the extension of gTLD as you all know. But, this gTLD is of the ambiguity nature. Why ? How could we solve the problems of .asia.eu, asia.tw... etc in the future. On the other side, it could be another monopoly if it comes true. Nevertheless, I will listen to the members. If the mojority of members say yes, I will certainly have the confidence for that it can be realized.
