Larry Lessig, Karl Auerbach, and I have formed a slate for the N. America region. I had hoped in addition to form an international slate of progressive candidates. Unfortunately, there has not been time, primarily because we have been deluged with email and questions. These questions are important, and they provide an opportunity for the electorate to get an idea of where each of us stands on the issues. I'm not complaining; I'm simply pointing out that they are very time consuming and in my case have prevented me from devoting the time to putting together a global slate.
I know who I would vote for were I living in Europe, and I feel pretty confident about who I would vote for in Africa as well. But I have not contacted these people, so I don't feel comfortable with including them in some slate. I am open to suggestions and recommendations - if there is time between now and the end of the election to create an international slate.

No. As most readers will have gathered, I am not a long-time denizen of ICANN's technological world. Therefore, I don't know the players, including other candidates. (Indeed, I'm still trying to figure out some of the acronyms that run through some electoral communications.) My world is the world of U.S. and, to some extent, international research and education. It is that world that would provide the alliances and connections that would inform my work on the ICANN board, if elected.

Oliver Popov (European region) and I are both members of the NATO Science Committee's networking panel, which funds infrastructure development projects in eastern Europe and central Asia. I have professional contacts with several of the other candidates from regions other than North America, but I have not formed any alliances with them in the context of ICANN.

I know candidates in the other regions, but have not formed any alliances. I have substantial global experience and interest, however, for in addition to serving as President of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), I serve as President of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), an association of 41 high-tech associations around the world. I have experience in building global coalitions and working with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

No. But an alliance of the elected at-large directors will need to take place if any real change is going to occur at ICANN.

I have no formal affiliations, but I know
Jeanette Hofmann and think she's an
outstanding candidate.
