Session Details
10:30-11:15 (45min)GAC Discussion on Subsequent Rounds of new gTLDs (3/3) Agenda: The GAC will discuss pending priority items following the finalization of PDP WG Final Report in preparation for potential GAC Advice or comments on priority topics (PICs, closed generics, applicant support, community applications, GAC Early Warnings/GAC Advice, Predictability, auctions/mechanisms of last resort) ,and any other topics brought forward by GAC Members.
11:15-12:00 (45min)GAC Discussion on DNS Abuse Mitigation Agenda:In this session the GAC PSWG, with the aid of a panel of experts from the industry, will convey recent developments around implementation of DNS over HTTPS (DoH). DoH enables DNS resolution over HTTPS by encrypting the queries, which were previously sent in clear text, and hiding them inside normal looking HTTPS web traffic. The goal is to protect and prevent unauthorized access and manipulation of DNS traffic. The objective of the session is to provide an understanding of the protocol and the current deployments and implementations. In the time that has lapsed since the last ICANN treatment of the topic, the providers have achieved initial deployment and continue to refine their offerings based on feedback from governments, other service providers, and users. Finally, the session will seek to provide a full understanding of the protocol as currently deployed, and the differences between current industry offerings, to enable public policy and safety discussions and impact assessments.
