What it is | A joint meeting of the GAC and the GNSO to discuss issues associated with the introduction of new gTLDs.
Why it's Important | To provide an opportunity for the GNSO and the GAC to discuss issues of divergence/interest regarding new gTLDs.
Who should attend? | This session will be attended by GAC representatives and GNSO Councillors and members. Other interested people can attend, but will not be able to contribute to the discussion.
What It Is | This is an open meeting of the Post-Expiration Domain Name Recovery Working Group to observe for members of the ICANN Community. There will be time reserved in the meeting for Q&A with members of the community, in order to allow for input and feedback.
Why It's Important | To what extent should registrants be able to reclaim
their domain names after they expire? At issue is whether the current
policies of registrars on the renewal, transfer and deletion of expired
domain names are adequate. To this end, the GNSO launched a policy
development process and created a Working Group to examine these issues and
develop recommendations, if appropriate. The objective of this meeting is to
provide the ICANN community with an update on the activities and discussions
of the Working Group to date and an opportunity to provide input to the
deliberations of the Working Group.
Who Should Attend? | Anyone interested in post-expiration domain name
recovery related issues and/or GNSO policy development.
The gTLD Registries Stakeholder Group (RySG) is one of the stakeholder groups in the contracted party house of the Generic Name Supporting Organization (GNSO). The primary role of the RySG is to represent the interests of all gTLD registry operators (or sponsors in the case of sponsored gTLDs) ("Registries") (i) that are currently under contract with ICANN to provide gTLD registry services in support of one or more gTLDs; (ii) who agree to be bound by consensus policies in that contract; and (iii) who voluntarily choose to be members of the RySG.
The CSG represents the views of users and connectivity providers; Its mission is to ensure ICANN policy and ICANN contracts are consistent with the development of an Internet that is a safe place for business-to-business and business-to-consumer transactions and communications to take place based on high levels of business, user and consumer confidence.
